During the formation, and eruption, of Mount Superior in 1951 the area that is now called Mountainview was covered in lava and volcanic ash. The result of this was to turn much of the area into extremely arable land. Several farms and ranches have sprung up in Mountainview in the 50 years since the disaster. There are also many pristine forests that have emerged in record time since the disaster. The western end of Mountainview, in the foothills of Mount Superior, is the location of the S.T.A.R. Labs Geothermal Research Center and the cave that the Enforcers of Justice originally used as a headquarters was located in the southern portion of the district.
